MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State Baseball returns home to kick off a four-game homestand, beginning with a midweek rematch against Southeast Missouri State.
The Racers and Redhawks faced off two weeks ago in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with Murray State falling 8-1 on the road. In that game, the Racers' lone run came from a Kainen Jorge solo homer in the eighth inning. Jorge was responsible for two of the Racers' four hits in that contest.
Jorge enters the homestand with the hottest bat on the team, batting .370 over the past two weeks with four homers, two of which came during Sunday's series finale at UIC.
Since the two programs last met, the Racers have gone 2-5, dropping five consecutive MVC games. SEMO has posted a 5-3 record over that same span, going 1-1 in conference series, losing its series at Lindenwood and defeating Morehead State at home.
The longtime conference rivals have taken the field together since 1931, with Murray State trailing in the all-time series 63-74-1. The Racers hold a 32-27-1 lead when playing in Murray.
The Redhawks currently sit in third place in the OVC standings with an 8-4 record against conference opponents.
Southeast Missouri has fared well in midweek contests this season, bringing a 6-1 record on Tuesdays to tomorrow's contest.
Murray State and SEMO are scheduled for a 4 p.m. first pitch at Johnny Reagan Field. Tomorrow's contest will be featured on ESPN+, and live game updates will be published from @RacersBaseball on Instagram and X.
