The Murray State Racers (16-18, 7-6 MVC) are set to begin a long homestand by hosting the Bradley Braves (10-26, 4-10 MVC) for a weekend series at Racer Field.
Following a series win at UIC, the Racers improve to fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference standings, while Bradley sits in 10th place, four spots out of the six-team MVC Tournament.
Murray State is coming off a midweek contest at UT Martin that saw the Racers escape with a 4-3 win in 10 innings. Sophomore Kenley Minor provided the winning run in dramatic fashion, hitting a solo shot in the top of the 10th inning to beat the Skyhawks. Bre Haislip delivered a dominant performance in the circle, pitching a 10-inning complete game and striking out nine batters while only allowing two earned runs.
Minor set a new career high with seven RBI in the series finale at UIC, blasting a pair of three-run homers. Following her efforts in Chicago, the third baseman was named MVC Player of the Week and leads the team with six home runs and 25 RBI. Sophomore transfer Kynadee Warner leads the team with a .357 batting average and 41 hits on the season. Freshman catcher Allie Waldron is batting .354 on the year with 35 hits and 21 RBI.
The Murray State pitching staff is third in the MVC with a 3.99 combined ERA. Senior Bre Haislip (8-5) features a team-low 2.69 ERA and leads the team with 63 strikeouts and 99 innings pitched. Karlye Graber (5-5) features a 3.98 ERA and 47 strikeouts across 70 1/3 innings pitched, second most on the team. Sophomore transfer Emily Siurek (0-2) has made 10 appearances and three starts, with a 3.90 ERA and 11 strikeouts across 23 1/3 innings.
Scouting the Braves
Murray State holds a 5-2 lead in the series between the MVC foes, despite the Braves winning the series in 2025. The Racers' lone win of the series was a 4-3 win in the second game of a Friday doubleheader. Interim head coach Lauren Gambone has guided her squad to a 10-26 record in her first season leading the Braves, most recently splitting a doubleheader at Drake on Monday with a 5-2 win in the second game. Morgan Schlosser leads the team with a .339 batting average, while Austin Comstock leads the team with 38 hits and features 22 RBI. Kierston McCoy is fifth in the MVC and leads the Braves with 10 home runs, and Olivia Turner leads the team with 29 RBI. The Bradley pitching staff features a combined 8.13 ERA. Abby Rusher (4-16) leads the team with a 6.39 ERA and 64 strikeouts across 114 innings. Kinsley Robertson (1-4) features an 8.87 ERA across 47 1/3 innings, and Gianna Hillegonds has a 10.76 ERA across 53 1/3 innings.
