Racer Nation,
Â
What an incredible week for Murray, for our region, and for Racer Athletics.
Â
Hosting the Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship at Johnny Reagan Field at Taylor Family Park was a transformational moment for our university and community. Over the course of the tournament, we welcomed thousands of fans, student-athletes, coaches, and visitors to Murray, Kentucky — creating a tremendous economic and entertainment impact felt across our entire city, county, and region.
Â
From packed hotels and restaurants to national exposure for our university and community, this event showcased the power of Racer Athletics as a driver of pride, energy, and opportunity for western Kentucky. Most importantly, it showcased the spirit of Racer Nation.
Â
This event would not have been possible without the incredible generosity and vision of our donors who helped make the renovations to Johnny Reagan Field at Taylor Family Park a reality. We extend a special thank you to The Murray Bank, David Taylor, Board Chair Dr. Robbie Fitch, and Board Chair Leon Owens for their leadership and commitment to the future of Racer Athletics. Your investment created a championship-caliber experience for our student-athletes, fans, and the entire Missouri Valley Conference.
Â
I also want to personally thank President Ron Patterson for his unwavering support of Murray State Athletics and our vision for what Racer Athletics can become. His leadership continues to position our university for tremendous growth and momentum.
Â
To the Murray Convention & Visitors Bureau and Executive Director Erin Carrico, thank you for your partnership, collaboration, and tireless efforts in helping us host a first-class championship event. Together, we demonstrated what can happen when a community rallies around a shared vision.
Â
To our entire Murray community — thank you for opening your doors, welcoming visitors, and proudly showcasing what Racer Nation is all about. The hospitality, passion, and pride displayed throughout the tournament were truly unforgettable.
Â
And to our fans — thank you for showing up in historic fashion. Because of your passion and support, we shattered school attendance records. The atmosphere you created was electric and further proved that Murray is one of the premier baseball environments in the country. Racer Nation is one of one!
Â
A very special thank you goes to Brock Rydecki, head coach Dan Skirka, our baseball staff and our student-athletes for months of planning, and our entire Athletics leadership team and staff, especially, Corey Gazie, Ben Preston, Devin Gregory, Jacob Pennington, Clay Wagoner, Sam Rhodes, Tony Rodriguez, Josh Brunner, Dr. Dave Eaton, Grace Buchanan, Edmond Booker, Sal Miliotto and Luke Wohlfarth, Dave Winder, Fulton Hart, Morgan Schumacher, and Dr. Richard Blalock II, and so many more for executing this event at an elite level.Â
Â
Additionally, we want to share our appreciation for our partners SSC Grounds, Sodexo, and MSUPD for their tireless efforts through the week navigating unpredictable weather and ensuring a safe and positive atmosphere for all.
Â
From operations and fan experience to hospitality and logistics, your hard work made this tournament a memorable experience for so many and set a new standard for championship hosting.
Â
Finally, thank you to the Missouri Valley Conference and Commissioner Jeff Jackson for their trust, partnership, and support throughout this process. We are proud to represent the MVC and honored to host such an outstanding championship event.
Â
This tournament was more than just baseball. It was a statement about where Murray State Athletics is headed.
Â
The best is yet to come.

Go Racers!
