Racers Head to Carbondale to Face League-Leading Salukis

MURRAY, Ky. - Murray State makes its first Missouri Valley Conference road trip Saturday evening, visiting a Southern Illinois team that has won six straight and has conceded five goals all season. The Racers are seeking their first conference win under head coach Ben Madsen and second win of the 2026 season.
The Racers lead the all-time series 4-2 and have won all three meetings at Cutchin Field, most recently a 1-0 decision on Oct. 10 of last season. Murray State has taken one of three matches in Carbondale, a 2-1 win in October 2022, and lost the other two by an identical 1-0 score.
Murray State arrives with the defense continuing to be their biggest strength. The Racers have allowed one goal or fewer in five of their last six matches and matched Illinois State 14-14 in shots in the league opener, the first even shot total of their season. They also committed a season-low three fouls in that match, the fewest by either side in any Murray State match this year.
- Senior goalkeeper Griselda Revolorio has 48 of Murray State's 49 team saves and has played every minute of the season. She passed Jenna Villacres for third all time in program history in career minutes against Illinois State and now ranks fourth with 239 career saves, 25 behind Annie Fortier for third.
- Revolorio is third in program history with 17 career shutouts and her 1.09 career goals-against average is tied for third.
- Six Racers have scored in 2026 and none has more than one goal. Five of the six were the first of a player's collegiate career.
- Junior forward Breece Bass leads Murray State with four points, 21 shots and nine shots on goal, and she sits two goals shy of 10 for her career.
- Southern Illinois beat common opponents Lindenwood and UT Martin 1-0, beating both teams 1-0. Murray State lost 1-0 at Lindenwood and drew UT Martin 2-2.
Scouting the Salukis
Southern Illinois is 7-2-0 and has not lost since Aug. 20, reeling off a school-record six-match winning streak that includes a 2-1 win at Evansville in its conference opener. Five of the six wins were shutouts, and the Evansville match is the only one in the run where the Salukis conceded.
Southern Illinois has allowed five goals in nine matches for a 0.56 goals-against average with six shutouts, the stingiest mark in the Missouri Valley. Goalkeeper Reagan Miller has made 28 saves across eight starts.
The attack has produced 20 goals on 109 shots with 21 assists, and the Salukis put 42 percent of their attempts on frame. Maya Dixon leads the team with four goals and two game-winners. Nao Katamoto has a team-high seven assists and a team-high 18 shots, and Victoria Hassan joins the pair at nine points apiece. Southern Illinois has drawn 38 corner kicks and committed 83 fouls.
