BEFORE MSU: Played three seasons at Jacobs High School under coaches Don Biagoni (2003-04) and Lisa Dwyer (2005)...helped the Eagles to a combined 66-38 (.635) record over those three seasons...dished out 1,612 career assists and had 362 career kills and 70 career aces at Jacobs High...in her senior season (2005), named to the all-state teams for the Champaign Gazette, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune...named the Pre-Season Top Player from the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times...earned All-Fox Valley Conference...named all-area by the Chciago Daily Herald and the Elgin Courier-News...handed out 526 assists and served up 25 aces...also chipped in 138 kills...in her junior season (2004), earned Champaign Gazette All-State honors as well as being named to the all-area teams from the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Daily Herald, Elgin Courier-News and Northwest Herald (Crystal Lake, Ill.)...handed out 422 assists to go with 11 aces and 124 kills...helped the Eagles to a 21-14 mark...named team MVP...in her sophomore season (2003), helped JHS to a 30-7 record and a regional title...named to the Chicago Daily Herald All-Area Team...dished out 664 assists to go with 34 aces and 100 kills...had an assist percentage of .377...as a member of the Sky High Volleyball Club, named to the Junior National All-Tournament Team...helped Sky High to a fifth-place finish at Nationals...graduated 75th in a class of 500 at JHS with a grade-point average of 3.75 on a 4.0-scale...graduated from Jacobs High School with high honors...a member of the National Honor Society...earned 2006 Fox Valley Conference All-Academic honors...won the Prairie State Achievement Award for Reading.
PERSONAL: Born Jessica Louise Rydz on Nov. 23, 1988, the daughter of Geri and Brian Rydz...mother played volleyball at Loyola (Ill.)...has three sisters, Katie, Becky and Maddy...majoring in physical therapy.
