Volleyball Faces Eastern Kentucky at Racer Arena

After taking their first Ohio Valley Conference loss to Austin Peay (9-10, 3-0 OVC), the Murray State (11-4, 2-1 OVC) volleyball team will face Eastern Kentucky (13-6, 3-0 OVC) Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Racer Arena in Murray, Kentucky.
The Racers started conference play 2-1 by defeating Southeast Missouri 3-0 followed by UT Martin 3-1 before falling to Austin Peay 0-3. Scottie Ingram notched double-doubles in all three matches with 21 kills and 19 digs against UT Martin along with 15 kills and 10 digs against Southeast Missouri while adding `0 kills and 11 digs while opposing Austin Peay. She had a new season high attacks at 48 against UT Martin, along with tying her season high in blocks with 2. Ellie Lorenz helped defensively with 13 digs and 2 service aces against Southeast Missouri, and tied her season high 25 digs against UT Martin while adding 14 digs and one assist verses Austin Peay. Sam Bedard was voted OVC Setter of the Week after finishing the weekend with 86 total assists coming off of 37 against Southeast Missouri and 49 against UT Martin. Then she added 30 assists and 11 digs while facing Austin Peay.

Eastern Kentucky started conference play 3-0 with victories at Belmont (3-2), at Tennessee State (3-1), and then at Morehead State (3-2). Alexis Plagens currently leads the team with 225 kills, with Dena Ott leading with 326 digs. Abbey Cvelbar leads the team with an average of 10.30 assists per set. The team has a .215 hitting percentage, while holding opponents to a .203 hitting percentage. Against Morehead State, Plagens notched a double-double with 14 kills and 16 digs, while Cvelbar added a triple-double with 10 kills, 47 assists, and 10 digs.Â
