The Racers close their season-long six-game road trip with a pair of non-conference tilts at Kansas. MSU is coming off a 1-2 weekend at UT Martin to begin conference play while the Jayhawks have won three straight, all at home. KU is 5-3 this season at Hoglund Park.
Inside the Series
Tuesday and Wednesday will be the first-ever meetings between MSU and Kansas. The Racers are 14-10-1 all-time against teams from the Big 12. This will be the first matchup since 2003 against Baylor that the Racers will face a school from the Big 12. MSU is 4-3 all-time against schools from the state of Kansas.
Scouting Kansas
Matt McLaughlin leads Kansas and is the only Jayhawk hitting above .300 this season with an average of .306. McLaughlin also leads KU with nine RBIs and is one of four Jayhawks with a home run this season. Rudy Karre and Colby Wright each lead Kansas with nine runs scored. Michael Tinsley leads the squad with five extra-base hits in 2016. As a team, the Jayhawks are hitting .255 and are 14-for-16 on stolen base attempts.
Blake Goldsberry leads the team with a 1.50 ERA in six innings of work this season.
