First Pitch
The Racers will play a pair of midweek contests this week as MSU welcomes Kentucky State to Reagan Field Tuesday for a 4 p.m. contest. The Racers will then travel to Carbondale, Ill., Wednesday for a 2Â p.m. tilt with Southern Illinois. MSU is looking to rebound from getting swept at Austin Peay over the weekend. SIU has won 5-of-6 entering the week. Kentucky State has won 4-of-5.
Inside the Matchups
Although SIU has mostly controlled the series with the Racers, MSU has won 3-of-4 as of late in the series, including both meetings last season. The Racers are 6-25 all-time in Carbondale, winning last season's contest, 3-2 in 11 innings. This will be the seventh season in a row that the two teams will play each other twice, with each hosting a game. The Racers and Thorobreds have never faced one another.
Schedule Change
Wednesday's contest at Southern Illinois has been moved to a 2 p.m. first pitch. The game was originally scheduled for a 5 p.m. start, but was moved up due to impending inclement weather.
Grand Salami
Kipp Moore belted the second grand slam of his career Saturday in MSU's 16-11 loss to Austin Peay. Moore's other bases-loaded homer came last season against Northern Illinois, in a game that was actually played at the home of the Salukis, Jones Stadium, due to poor field conditions in Murray.
Career-High for Scott
Ramsey Scott notched a career-high four hits against APSU on Saturday, going 4-of-5 with two runs, a double and an RBI in the loss. Scott was 7-of-13 over the three games against the Govs with three doubles and a pair of ribbies.
