Robinson's Walk Off Gives Racers a Sweep of TTU

Today, it was Jaron Robinson's turn for the heroics as his single to the gap in right center field brought home Cody Gilbert and Reed Thompson with two outs in the inning. Trailing 7-5 to start the inning, Ramsey Scott's one-out single up the middle scored Adam Bauer from second base to cut the deficit to 7-6. After Caleb Hicks was hit by a pitch and Jack Hranec flied out to left field, it was time for Robinson's walk off.
MSU (20-21, 9-9 OVC) had to come from behind in every game in the series and Sunday, the Racers found themselves trailing 5-0 after the top of the third thanks in large part to a pair of Golden Eagle home runs. TTU (21-17, 10-11 OVC) got a three-run shot in the first and a solo homer in the second to take an early 4-0 lead before an RBI-double pushed its lead to 5-0.
The Racers however would do some damage of their own via the long ball as Tyler Lawrence got MSU on the board with a two-run blast to left field which scored Bauer as well and cut the deficit to 5-2. The homer was Lawrence's seventh of the season. In the next inning, Tyler Dixon blasted a three-run shot, his sixth of the year, which hit off the scoreboard at Reagan Field and tied the game at 5-5.
From there on, much of the game was a pitcher's duel between the two teams' bullpen as both teams went scoreless until the eighth when the Golden Eagles got a pair of runs to take a 7-5 lead. MSU got the leadoff man aboard in the bottom half of the inning but couldn't do any damage.
John Lollar got the win in relief and improved his record to 4-1 on the year. Lollar was stellar out of the bullpen as he went seven innings and allowed just the two runs on eight hits and struck-out four batters. Brad Boegel got the start on the mound and went two-plus innings.
Offensively, the Racers were out-hit 13-8 in the win and Hranec was the only Racer with multiple hits as he went 2-for-4. Aaron Bence and Dixon were both 1-for-3 at the plate and Bauer was 1-of-4 with two runs scored. Lawrence went 1-for-2 with a walk as well.
MSU improved its record to 15-8 at home on the year and returns to Reagan Field Tuesday as Alabama A&M comes to town for a 6 p.m. contest. The Racers return to OVC action next weekend as they hit the road for a three-game series at first-place Southeast Missouri beginning Friday.
