Racers Keep On Rolling - Defeat EIU In Convincing Fashion

The Murray State women's tennis team won their eighth straight game, as they swept the Eastern Illinois Panthers 7-0 at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts in Murray, Ky.

Murray State advances to 12-6 overall and 6-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference. EIU moves to 10-11 overall and 4-2 in the OVC. The Racers now have matched their winning streak from the 2014-15 season where they won the OVC tournament and played Vanderbilt in the NCAA tournament.

"I'm very happy with this win since we lost to this team last year. We played tough in the big moments and winning doubles was key today, it got us into some good energy and we were able to jump on them when we went into singles," said Jorge Caetano after the win.

Murray State started off winning doubles 2-1 to begin the match. Amina Hadzic and Anja Loncarevic won 6-2 while Sara Bjork and Stasya Sharapova battled to a 7-5 win to get the Racers the first point.
Stasya Sharapova won in two sets (6-0, 6-2) as she picked up 10^th win of the year.

Anja Loncarevic won in two sets (6-0, 6-2) as she picked up her sixth win of the year.

Aarja Chakraborty clinched the win for the Racers with a two-set win (6-0, 6-4) as she secured her eighth win of the season.

Claire Chang won in a hard-fought two-set match (6-4, 6-3) as she won her 18^th match of the year.

Sara Loncarevic won in two sets (6-4, 6-2) as she picked up her 10^th win of the year.

Amina Hadzic closed out the day with her 13^th win in a row. Winning in two sets, she had to play a tiebreaker to secure a 7-6 first set win and battled to a 6-4 second set victory.

Murray State takes on SIU Edwardsville tomorrow at the McCracken High School indoor courts at 11 am in Paducah, Ky.
