The Murray State men's and women's cross country teams are back in action, Saturday, when they travel to Louisville to race in the Greater Louisville Classic hosted by Eastern High School and the Louisville Sports Commission.
In one of the biggest meets in the country that features 12 races throughout the day among colleges, high schools, and middle schools, Murray State will be running in the Blue Races, which kick off with the men running at 10:45 followed by the women at 11:30.
The men will run an 8K at Tom Sawyer Park while the women will run a 5K.
At the Commodore Classic two weeks ago, senior Vince Turner was the top finisher for the Racers. Junior Zach Balleau and sophomore Meyer Makemson finished second and third, while junior Zan McClelland was fourth and freshman Christian Slone finished in a scoring position for the first time in his young career, as he was the fifth Racer to cross the finish line.
In the women's race, senior Rebekah Priddy was the top finisher for the second meet in a row but saw her team lead slip a little, as many Racers improved their times. Freshman Emma Creviston improved her time by 30 seconds while junior Hilary McAdam bettered her time by more than 40 seconds to finish second and third, respectively. Senior Ida Mutai and freshman Dani Wright also improved as they placed fourth and fifth for the Racers.
