Racers Make NCAA Debut Against Stanford Friday

The Murray State softball team will make its first-ever NCAA Regional appearance Friday when it takes on Stanford at 5:30 p.m. at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on ESPN+. The winner of MSU's regional opener will advance to play the winner of host Alabama and Chattanooga Saturday at 2 p.m. The loser of the Racers' game Friday will fall into the elimination bracket and take on the loser of Alabama/Chattanooga at 4:30 p.m.
NOTES
• Sierra Gilmore became the 14th Racer in program history to homer twice in the same game in Saturday's winner-take-all championship with two solo home runs. The Tournament MVP, Gilmore finished the championship at 7-for-14 with three runs, three RBIs and three home-runs.

â–ª Veber and James were nothing short of incredible in the tournament as they allowed just one earned run over 32.0 innings with 31 strikeouts and only one walk. The duo finished the four-game stretch averaging 6.7 strikeouts per seven innings, posting a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 32.0:1, limiting opponents to a paltry .139 batting average, all while compiling an ERA of 0.21.

â–ª The accolades continued for the Racers Thursday as both Logan Braundmeier and Hannah James were named to the NFCA All-Mideast Region second team.
â–ª Murray State produced the third-best turn-around in the nation this season at +31 games. The only two teams that were better were Penn State at +37 and Boise State at +35.
