Racers Drop Road Contest at UNI

Murray State lost to the Panthers of UNI in four sets.
The Murray State Racers (9-7, 4-3 MVC) lost to the University of Northern Iowa Panthers (11-7, 6-0 MVC) 3-1 at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Saturday.Â
ÂThe Racers came out of the gate strong, winning a tightly contested first set 25-22. The second set went in the opposite direction, with the Panthers coming out on top 25-22. The Panthers took the third 25-13 as they registered 20 kills on the set while hitting .472. The Panthers continued the attack in the fourth set, registering 12 kills, hitting .303, and securing the victory with a 25-10 win. Â
ÂThe Racers were out-blocked 15-7 and the Panthers recorded a better attacking percentage of .250 compared to .066 for the Racers.
ÂBailey DeMier was the primary facilitator for the Navy & Gold, recording 31 kills and adding eight digs. Ella Vogel led the team in kills with 14 and added nine digs, Dahlia Miller led the team with 20 digs, and Haidi Miliou added eight kills.Â
ÂThree different Panthers recorded double-digit kills as Kira Fallert had 20, Kaci Rewerts had 12, and Olivia Tjernage put up 10. Sydney Golden led the team with 26 assists while Reese Booth added 19. Erin Powers led the Panthers with 18 digs. Â
ÂMurray State Volleyball returns home to Racer Arena next weekend for homecoming. The Racers will face Valparaiso on Friday, October 18 at 6 p.m. CT and UIC on Saturday, October 19 at 6 p.m. CT.
