Racers Face Bears in Friday Matchup

Racers head into the weekend facing Missouri State in second conference match
Murray State women's tennis will take on the Missouri State Bears in their second conference match at home this weekend.
The Racers are coming off of a statement win against Illinois State in their conference home opener, defeating the Redbirds 4-3. Freshman Valeria Chaikovskaia defeated the 2021 MVC Player of the Year, Tijana Zlatanovic, while graduates Marit Kreugel and Natalie Slezakova dominated in their respective singles matches. The Racers are now 1-0 in conference play and 8-5 overall.
Missouri State is coming off of a dominant conference opener against Northern Iowa, winning their match 6-1. Number five singles Nicole Ross clinched the match in straight dominant sets (6-1, 6-1), extending her winning streak to nine in a row. The Bears are undefeated at home, and undefeated when they win the doubles point at the top of the match. Missouri State are 1-0 in conference play and 10-5 overall.
Murray State will take on Missouri State on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts in Murray, Kentucky.
