Murray State set a new program record in the 4x400-meter relay at the John McDonnell Invite.
The Racers completed their final split competition weekend at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas and the Arkansas State Alumni Classic in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
"With our last split weekend of the season we saw some great performances at both Arkansas and Arkansas State," head coach Adam Kiesler said. "We had numerous athletes come away with PRs that move them up both the Murray State and the MVC list. We had two school records at Arkansas which is always nice to see."
24 athletes saw new personal bests across both meets on Friday and Saturday.
Chelby Melvin, Anouk Krause-Jentsch, Simone Joseph and Kayla Bell highlighted the weekend by setting a new program record in the 4x400-meter relay in Fayetteville with a time of 3:37.43. This is the second time this season Murray State has set a new record in the event after running 3:40.13 at the South Florida Invitational earlier this month.
Melvin also saw a new program record and a victory in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.92 seconds. She already held the program record spot with a time of 59.34 recorded at the Texas Relays in March.
Jenna Pauly, Meghan Fletcher and Breanna Day also saw first-place finishes in their respective events at the ASU Alumni Classic. Pauly took the top spot in the long jump with a distance of 5.80 meters, Fletcher won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.27 seconds and Day secured a victory in the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:03.50.
"With one more regular season meet on the schedule, I think we are headed in the direction we want to see before conference," Kiesler added.
