Racers Set to Face UIC in MVC Semifinal Round

Murray, Ky. – The Murray State Racers will look to carry their late-season momentum into the MVC Tournament, as they seek their sixth straight win when they take on UIC on Thursday at 1 p.m.
Murray State (10-4-4, 5-1-3 MVC) will face UIC for the second time in two weeks, following the Racers' 2-1 win over the Flames in Chicago. In that match, freshman Ava Roberson recorded the first brace of her collegiate career.
The Racers finished just shy of their first MVC regular-season title, ending one point behind Drake at the conclusion of conference play.
This will be the second time the two programs meet in the MVC Tournament, with UIC taking the first meeting in penalty kicks in the 2023 semifinal round. It will also mark Murray State's seventh MVC Tournament match since joining the league in 2022. The Racers hold a 4-1-1 record in postseason MVC play.
Murray State completed its regular-season slate led by seniors Mary Hardy, Megan Wilson and Sydney Etter, along with sophomore Breece Bass. Bass led the MVC in total shots and shots per game, and recorded the league's single-game high with eight shots this season. Hardy finished tied for second in the conference in multi-point matches with three, and ranked fourth in total points.
Wilson and goalkeeper Griselda Revolorio anchored the Racers defensively, leading the team to eight regular-season shutouts, tied for third in the MVC. Wilson has played 1,620 minutes this season, going the full 90 in all 18 matches.
MSU enters the semifinal atop the Missouri Valley in RPI, ranked 109th nationally, 38 spots ahead of second-place Drake. UIC (8-7-4, 3-3-3 MVC) enters ranked 183rd.
The Flames earned their spot in the semifinals with a 2-1 quarterfinal victory over Indiana State in Terre Haute. Since falling to Murray State in Chicago, UIC has gone 3-0 while outscoring opponents 6-1. The Racers' win on Oct. 24 marked their first in program history over the Flames, evening the all-time series at 1-1-3.
Murray State continues its pursuit of the program's first MVC Tournament title.
