The Racers play their first home game in the Coach Ryan Miller era Friday

The Murray State Racers open their 28th season of collegiate basketball at the CFSB Center on Friday (Nov. 7) when they meet the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils in a 7 p.m. tip off in Murray, Kentucky.

The Racers won their 101st season opener on Monday, 85-77, over the Omaha Mavericks at the Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The game also features the honoring of Murray State Hall of Famer, Lamont Sleets, as his jersey No. 10 is retired at halftime.

GAME DAY STORY LINES

The Racers are set for the 28th home opener at the CFSB Center that opened in 1998 and is set for a major renovation that begins once this season is finished.
The Racers are 26-1 in CFSB Center openers with the only loss to Houston in 2014.
Since the loss to the Cougars, MSU has won their last 10 home openers.
In those 10-straight wins, MSU defeated a pair of NCAA D-I teams with a 73-70 win over Illinois State in 2016 and a 69-49 win over Southern in 2019.
Included in the home streak was an amazing 173-95 win over Greenville (IL).
MSU is meeting Mississippi Valley for the first time in their 101 seasons of basketball.
The game also marks a moment of honor for Lamont Sleets as his jersey No. 10 is retired at halftime.
Sleets played for Coach Ron Greene from 1979-84 and played in 111 games and finished first at MSU in steals with 185 (still 2nd in 2025), first in assists with 458 (still 3rd in 2025), second in scoring with 1,902 points (still 8th in 2025). Sleets was the first Racer to be selected All-OVC four times.
Sleets' Murray State assist records were topped by Don Mann (1985-89) and eventually by Ja Morant (2017-19).
Next Tuesday, the Racers hit the road for Dallas, Texas and a game at SMU.
The Racers are back at home on Saturday, Nov. 15 on a doubleheader day at The Bank when the MSU men host Nicholls and the MSU women host Saint Louis.
