
Racers Wrap up 70th Season at NCAA Championships

Racers place eighth as Carlotta Salafia places fourth individually in air rifle
Murray State Rifle finished its 2024-25 season at the NCAA Rifle Championships at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky. Â
The Racers fired a 2371 in air rifle for an aggregate of 4693 after recording a 2322 in smallbore on Friday. Freshman Carlotta Salafia placed fourth individually in air rifle with a 207.2. Â
"I'm proud of Carlotta," said head coach Alan Lollar. "She had a nice day in air rifle and competed well in the final."Â
Salafia finished the day with a 598 to lead the Racers. Scott Patterson was just behind with a 594, while John Blanton posted a 590, Allison Henry put up a 589, and Zach Jackson finished with a 587. Â
"The team worked hard. Just getting here is a win," said Lollar. "We got to play on the last day. Only eight teams get to do that. I'm extremely proud of this team and what we accomplished." Â
In their 70th season of competition, the Racers captured their fifth consecutive and 19th Ohio Valley Conference championship of all time and reached the NCAA Championships for the 36th time. Â
