
Racers Push MVC Win Streak to 16

Murray State defeated Missouri State Sunday as they eye a back-to-back MVC title
Murray State women's tennis kept their undefeated Missouri Valley Conference season with a win over the Missouri State Bears in Springfield on Sunday.
The Racers (13-6, 6-0 MVC) have won 16 -straight matches in the Valley over the last two seasons and 10 consecutive wins this season. With the win The Racers clinched a first-round bye for the MVC tournament.
"Missouri State brought their A-game today on their senior day and really pushed us," said MSU head Coach Jorge Caetano. "It was challenging having to go back indoors again after playing outside on Thursday, but we did a good job staying focused in order to get the team win. We are happy to clinch the bye for the MVC tournament and we are very excited to play for the regular season title next weekend!"
In doubles play, Alexeyeva/Campigotto got a dominant 6-0 win at court No. 3 moving their overall record this season to 22-3. Over on court No. 2 Kikawa/Kadowaki clinched the doubles point for the Racers with a 6-4 win.
In singles, Murray State jumped to a 3-0 lead with straight sets wins from Kikawa and Kadowaki, both advance to 5-1 in MVC play.
Freshman, Rebecca Widan clinched the match for the Racers without losing a single game for a 6-0, 6-0 win, this marks the first clinch in her Racer Career. Senior, Campigotto continued her perfect weekend with a 6-3, 6-3 win. With her 4 wins this weekend, Campigotto moves to 5th all-time in win percentage for players with over 100 career wins.
The Racers dropped two hard fought matches from sophomores Chaikovskaia (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) and Alexeyeva (7-6, 7-6) for a 5-2 final score.
