Murray State Faces Austin Peay For Midweek Contest

The Murray State Racers (13-22, 4-11 MVC) will travel to Clarksville, Tenn. to face the Austin Peay Governors (30-7, 8-4 ASUN) for a midweek matchup.Â
The Racers are coming off of a series win over UIC, their first of the season. Murray State currently sits tenth in the Missouri Valley Conference standings. The Governors picked up a pair of wins in a series against Bellarmine over the weekend and are currently second in the ASUN Gold Division. Â
The Racers are batting .258 as a team with 230 hits, 55 extra-base hits, and 13 home runs on the year. The Murray State pitching staff features a 4.03 combined ERA and 113 strikeouts on the year. Austin Peay leads the ASUN with a .337 batting average and 52 home runs on the season. The Governors' pitching staff has a combined ERA of 3.28 with 123 strikeouts. Â
Parker Holcombe and Katy Huels led the team with three RBI and a home run each on the weekend. Huels extended her hit streak to 11 games, the longest one for the Racers this season, and her .309 batting average is second-best on the team. Â
Ailey Schyck leads the Racers with a .312 batting average, .570 slugging percentage, .955 OPS, and seven home runs. The junior went 3-3 in Sunday's game at UIC. Â
Raylee Roby (3-3) and Bre Haislip (5-10) each earned wins on the weekend, with Haislip going the distance on Saturday for her seventh complete game of the year. Â
The Governors' regular lineup features eight hitters over the .300 mark. Kylie Campbell leads the way with a .412 batting average and 47 hits. Sammie Shelander and Sam Leski lead the team with 39 RBI each and Katie Raper leads the way with ten home runs on the year. Samantha Miener (11-2) has a team-low ERA of 2.62 while Ashley Martin (9-1) features a team-high 59 strikeouts. Â
Following the midweek contest the Racers will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa for a weekend series from April 11-13. The first game is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT on Friday.
