Head Coach Matt Lodge Secures Record-Breaking Victory

MURRAY, Ky. Â - Â With a 2-0 victory over Troy in Friday's regular season opener, Matt Lodge, in his 8th season at the helm in Murray, earned his 61st career win, the most in any tenure in Murray State history. This win extended MSU's lead in the all-time series against Troy to 5-1.
The Racers (1-0-0) battled through a scoreless first half, anchored by newcomer Dominae Butler, a Western Michigan transfer making her Murray State debut.
Addison Howell, a freshman from Franklin, Tenn., broke the deadlock in the second half, netting her first collegiate goal off a Mary Hardy assist. Megan Wilson doubled the lead minutes later, finishing a pass from Kate Stordy to put the Racers ahead 2-0.
Murray State controlled the match after halftime, outshooting the Trojans (0-1-0) 16-4 in the second half to finish with a 21-8 advantage overall.
The win marked the Racers' first victory in a home opener since Aug. 19, 2021, when they defeated Missouri State 6-1.
The Racers continue their homestand Sunday, Aug. 17.at 2 PM vs. Lindenwood at Cutchin Field.
