Murray State will try to end its two-match losing streak when it hosts defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Tennessee Tech on Sunday at Cutchin Field.
The Racers lead the all-time series against the Golden Eagles 13-9-3, including a 7-3-1 mark at home.
Murray State is coming off a 2-1 road loss to a strong Lipscomb team, avoiding a shutout with a 90th-minute goal by senior Tori Schrimpf.
The story of the season so far has been a lack of offense, particularly in the first half. Murray State has yet to score in the opening 45 minutes this season. Despite averaging 14.3 shots per game, the Racers are averaging just one goal per match.
The Racers are averaging just one goal per match despite holding the edge in both shots and shots on goal. Preseason All-MVC honorable mention Breece Bass leads the team with five shots on goal but is still searching for her first score of the season. True freshman Addison Howell, coming off her first collegiate start at Lipscomb, leads the Racers with 10 total shots and has one goal.
Head coach Matt Lodge was pleased with his team's second-half performance against Lipscomb, saying, "Lots of positives we can gravitate toward."
Tennessee Tech has also struggled offensively through its first three matches, failing to score a goal and being outscored 10-0.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 6-0 home loss to No. 11 Vanderbilt and are looking to turn around a slow start to their season. They entered the year as the OVC favorite, earning 14 of 20 first-place votes, and are aiming for their fourth consecutive regular-season title.
Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Cutchin Field.
