MURRAY, Ky. – Breece Bass' 65th-minute goal lifted Murray State to a 1-0 win over preseason OVC favorite Tennessee Tech on Sunday at Cutchin Field.
The Golden Eagles (0-4-0) generated eight first-half shots, but goalkeeper Griselda Revolorio stopped all three on target to keep the match scoreless at the break. The senior's effort earned her a second shutout of the season.
"First half, I thought they should have been going in at halftime in the lead," head coach Matt Lodge said. "Gigi pulled out some phenomenal saves, keeps us in the game."
Murray State (2-2-0) has yet to score a first-half goal this season, but delivered another strong second-half performance. Bass, who leads the team in shots and shots on goal, broke through off a well-placed assist from Megan Wilson for her first goal of 2025.
"The second half, I truly believe there was only one team that looked like winning," Lodge said. "Great to get Breece a goal, and hopefully she can continue that, because once she gets going she's going to be very hard to stop."
The Racers finished with 17 shots, putting four on goal, but have yet to score more than once in a match this year.
Sunday's win improves MSU's all-time record against Tennessee Tech to 14-9-3 and marks its second home victory this season. The Racers visit Xavier, the No. 2 team in the Big East preseason poll, on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Central.
