MURRAY, Ky. - Murray State soccer fell 3-1 to Missouri on Sunday afternoon at Cutchin Field in the Racers' 2026 home opener, with true freshman Abby (Jo) Dalessandro scoring the first goal of her career and the first Murray State goal of the season.

Missouri (2-0-0) scored 14 seconds into the match and added two more in the second half to hand the Racers (0-2-0) their second loss of the young season. A crowd of 536 took in the home opener.

"We had some early mistakes in each half that kind of set the tone for the game a little bit," head coach Ben Madsen said. "But we didn't give up and I'm proud of the effort that we put forth. I think we can compete with these teams we just have to be a little cleaner and not give up early goals."

The Racers answered the early deficit with the a productive first half. Breece Bass rattled the crossbar in the sixth minute, and Murray State put five more attempts on the board before the break, including a Reagan Tate try that forced a save in the 31st minute.

Dalessandro answered in the 40th minute. Set up by Natalie Miller, the true freshman scored in the 40th minute for the first goal of her career and the first Murray State goal of the season, and the Racers went to halftime level at 1-1.

Missouri retook the lead in the 50th minute and pushed the margin to 3-1 in the 67th minute. Murray State kept pressing to the final whistle, earning six of its 10 corner kicks after halftime and generating late looks from Gabriel Ramdeen, Kendyll English and Tate, who put up three of the Racers' 11 shots on the day.

Murray State out-cornered Missouri 10-6 and more than doubled its shot output from the season opener, finishing with 11 attempts and three on target. Griselda Revolorio made six saves in 90 minutes, double her total from the opener at Ole Miss.

Sixteen Racers saw the field, and Madsen leaned heavily on his newcomers over the two-game week.

"We got some really good minutes out of the freshman today, and obviously got to go deep around a Sunday game," Madsen said. "I'm really proud of them, too. Some of them didn't even get in the game on Wednesday, so thrown into the fire and they came out and performed."

Murray State is now 1-17 all time against SEC opponents and 0-2 against Missouri.

The Racers return to the road next Sunday, Aug. 23, at Notre Dame. Kickoff in South Bend, Indiana, is set for noon CT.
