Racers Fall in Series Finale at UTM

Kipp Moore and Ramsey Scott led the Racer offense with two hits each while Moore had a team-high two RBIs, a two-run double down the line in the third inning. Adam Bauer, Cody Gilbert and Tyler Lawrence also tallied an RBI each in the loss. Bauer's was a home run to right field, his fourth of the year that began the scoring in the contest in the first.
UT Martin (6-10, 2-1 OVC) scored in all but one inning in the game and collected 25 hits. The Racers had 11 hits and both teams left 12 runners on base. The Skyhawks were able to break a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the third with a five-run inning. In the fifth, MSU got two of those runs back to make it 9-6, but UTM responded with a four-run bottom half of the inning to push in front 13-6.
Ryan Dills took the loss for the Racers, pitching two innings and allowing eight runs, six of those were earned, on nine hits. Caleb Arbeiter, Blake Clynes, Chad Gendron, Cody Maerz and Derrik Watson all made relief appearances for MSU.
The Racers return to action Tuesday as they travel to face Kansas in a two-game dip Tuesday and Wednesday. First pitch is 3 p.m. for both games.
